We have been getting active ! Our class recently started our Super Trooper Programme. We have been completing all the activities and its been great getting out into the sunshine.
Here is Ian’s recount of what we have done so far
In the first week of Super Trooper we did 10 side leg raises,
1 minute of Kangaroo jumps, 30 seconds of airplane balances ,
10 minutes of musical creepy crawlies and stop everything and move.
On week 2 we did dice running for 10 minutes, step and stone for 30 seconds play basketball 10 to 15 minutes. At the weekend we will try to get our family moving and do we did during the week and we will try to walk 2k over the weekend.
This week we were very lucky to receive a visit from Nicola Pierce author of Spirit of the Titanic.
Nicole showed us lots of pictures of the Titanic and told us different stories about passengers who were on the Titanic. The Titanic hit an ice berg and sank on her maiden voyage. Nicola inspired us to draw our own pictures of the amazing ship.
This morning we listened to “First you make your fingers click”. In the music you only use your hands and feet to make the music. We then worked in groups and made our own compositions. We are now composers. Click and have a listen !
On Wednesday we started learning about bridges. On Thursday we got a chance to design and make our own bridges. Bridges let you cross from one place to another. Bridges cross over water , busy roads, rivers , steams , train tracks and valleys. There are lots of different types of bridges including
An arch bridge
A rope bridge
A beam bridge
A cable bridge
Some famous bridges from around the world are London Bridge, Sydney Harbour bridge, The Golden Gate Bridge , The Mary McAleese Bridge and the Ha’Penny Bridge.
We have been working very hard preparing for our summer tests. Today we took a small break and made some Horrid Henry jigsaws! Aaron and Dylan have there’s finished! Ethan , Erinn , Adam and Tori are still working away. Their jigsaws have 250 pieces!
This morning we played a game called BananaGrams. If you are wondering what BananaGrams is , its a game where you make words out of tiles. The First team to use up all their words are the winners and they shout BANANAS! .
We worked in groups and made words using vowel digraphs.
Our Opinion it is a fun game to play however when you run out of vowels it gets very tricky!!!
Our class is taking part in the Sow and Grow project. All our materials arrived before our Easter Holidays. We planted our cress seeds yesterday. We put them on a windowsill hopefully they will get lots of sunlight. Today we are going to fill in our grow diaries. Next week we will plant courgette seeds and then pumpkin seeds. We can’t wait to plant the pumpkin seeds. We also have tomato plants growing in our classroom.
