WELCOME Welcome back to another year
in St.Molaga’s School
and a special welcome to all new 3rd class students and their
parents.
Fr.Aloysius celebrated a welcome mass in
the school a few weeks ago. On Thursday for 4th and 6th classes
and the Friday for 3rd and 5th classes, both were lovely.
ALL WEATHER
PITCH The all weather pitch which
was put in over the summer break is a fantastic asset to the school. The
Parents Association through fundraising were able to give a sizeable
contribution and together with the Board of Management allowed this
excellent facility be built. We hope everyone
gets great use and enjoyment out of it.
OCTOBER
2011
The third classes planted
daffodils last week. This is to welcome all new students to St.Molaga’s. Keep a look out everyone in spring for
all the beautiful blossoming daffodils.
Congratulations to Ms.Doorley on the birth of her beautiful son, Patrick
Michael.
BAG PACKING We are hoping to confirm dates before Christmas for our annual
bag packing. This is a great fund raising opportunity and takes place in
SuperValu. The sixth class students will be
packing. We will be looking for parents to help closer to the time. We
would appreciate as many Parents as possible to volunteer to supervise as
two Parents are needed for each 2 hour period. Thank you all again for
your continuing support in all our fundraising towards making the school
environment the best it can be for all our children. We
would like to congratulate Elaine Worthington and John Byrne on
being re-elected as the Parents Representatives on the Board of
Management.
ATHLETICS
TEAM We
would like to congratulate Ms.McMahon and Ms.Walsh on setting up a new Athletics team. They were
very busy selecting and training students from 5th and
6th classes for weeks and they had their first outing last
week. They travelled to Balheary to take part in
the Fingal Athletics League.
We
wish them every luck for the
future. We
wish everyone a happy and safe Halloween break from Friday 28th
October at 2.50pm until Monday 7th November at
9.10am. Hope everyone has a very enjoyable and safe Halloween break
from Friday 28th until Monday 7th
November.

We are
celebrating our annual Arts’ Week in St. Molaga’s N.S. This week is an opportunity for all
pupils, staff and parents to focus on reading and literacy development.
They also get an opportunity to meet authors listen to and make music and
take part in different creative activities. Parents are welcome to visit our Book Fair on Wednesday 26th from 9-11am. Books are great presents and there are great bargains available. Throughout the week there will a huge
variety of workshops, demonstrations, dance classes, weaving and art
workshops as well as visits from local musicians, authors and
artists.
The week will end with the ever popular Book Character Dress Up Day on Friday 28th. This day is a very entertaining day for all as pupils, teachers, S.N.A.s, secretary and caretaker join in the fun. This year the school staff will dress up as fairy-tale characters so watch out! You may meet Snow White or a wolf or one of the three pigs on your visit to the school. We are asking all pupils to contribute at least €3 towards the cost of the activities for Arts’ Week. For more information on all that is happening in school have a look at our School Blog which you can find on our school website at www.stmolaga.scoilnet.ie which contains news, photos and projects from classes in St. Molaga’s. We will use the blog to publish news and information during the year
on upcoming events and activities. The pupils will also be using the blog to publish their work during this school year.
This summer we had our electrical works upgraded in the school with funding from the Department of Education and Skills. The Parents’ Association and Board of Management funded a new All weather area on the school yard which the children can now use for PE activities and at yard time. The Parents’ Association have also organised our Book Rental Scheme again this year which is a wonderful service to the school and enables parents to rent the class books at €50 for four years (€12.50 per year) I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the Parents’ Association and the B.O.M. for their on going support and work on behalf of pupils, staff and all in St. Molaga’s N.S. Ní neart go cur le chéile. Working together we can achieve a lot more. We ask all parents/guardians to continue to support their Parents’ Association and if possible to join the committee. Our P.A. committee meet here in the school and are always looking for new members to help in their various activities. We need parents to be involved as the work the P.A. undertakes supports the work and education of your children. |
We are fast approaching the mid-term break and everyone has
settled in to life and work in St. Molaga’s N.S.
Swimming will commence for fourth classes after the mid-term break. So Fourth class please don’t forget your swimming gear on the first Monday(7th) back after the mid-term break. The Junior and Senior Choirs received an Art & Culture Achievement Award from Balbriggan Town Council at the annual award ceremony. They are busy rehearsing and learning new songs and we would like to wish the senior choir the best of luck in the Choir competition in November. Go n’éirí an t’ádh libh. Last year we participated in the Balbriggan Public Realm Project and our projects are currently on exhibition in the Millfield Shopping Centre in Balbriggan. Ms de Faoite’s Third class participated in the Mathletics during Maths Week. They achieved a place in the top 10 schools in Ireland on Friday 21st October. Our Parent Teacher meetings will take place on the 29th and 30th November and it is important that parents/guardians take time to meet their child’s teacher. You will receive notification of the date and time nearer the time. We would like to remind parents of our Religion Programme Alive-O Home Links which are available on the school website. The links contain information on the content of the Alive-O programme and the prayers, songs and poems your children are reading and learning in school. We would like to thank all the parents/guardians who have
contributed €70 towards Visual Arts, Parents’ Association and the
office/photocopying costs. We are happy for parents to pay in instalments
as the funding pays for art/craft materials, photocopying and the general
upkeep of resources in the school for use by the
children. We look forward to working together with you and your children
over the next school year.
