During active week in St. Molaga’s we had our senior and junior soccer leagues. Well done to all teams for getting to their pitches quickly. We had sixteen teams in each league with eight matches using up all of the big astro and two other pitches. Thanks to the fifth class children who did a great job refereeing the junior matches all kitted out in referee’s jerseys which Ms Doyle brought in for us. Thanks to teachers and Michael who refereed the senior matches. Team 4 were overall winners of the senior league and team 8 won the junior league. These two teams played the teachers on Wednesday and despite our best efforts the teachers lost both matches.
We had a fantastic active week last week. Our class took part in a Gaelic blitz on Wednesday, it was great to use the skills we had practiced during our matches. We also took part in cricket and basketball coaching sessions and we practiced our relay running. Many of our class took part in the skills displays in the hall. It was great to see so many different children sharing their talents.
The last day of the league was on Tuesday the 10th of April. Everyone got to try the activities in the middle of the stadium either before or after their race. The activities were laser shooting, cricket, and rugby. Everyone did really well and the team worked well together. We will miss the children from sixth class on our team but we really hope they will keep running in secondary school.
We enjoyed playing follow the leader in our groups in the sunshine.
St. Molaga’s athletics team took part in the North County Athletics league at Newbridge House today. The ground was muddy but that didn’t stop our great runners. Well done to everyone on the team. You were all great at cheering on each other as well.
We all really enjoyed meeting members of the garda mounted unit and meeting their two horses.
Well done to all the sixth class children who completed the final mile of their marathon on a very frosty morning in the National Sports Campus. We are very proud of all the sixth class runners.
We had many visitors to our class on Friday including Mrs Twit, Dr Noel Zone , some witches, a pilot, a footballer, zombies, a banana, James Bond and many more. Here are some pictures.
