6th Classes Tree Planting Ceremony to mark their graduation

To mark their graduation from St. Molaga’s, the 6th class students planted a tree outside the school today. A number of students spoke at the tree planting ceremony. They reminded us that the tree would be there for a long time to come, and represented all of them.

Summer Reading Buzz 2013 – Going Places with Books

The Summer Reading Buzz 2013 aims to inspire children, primarily from the age of 7 to 12 years to have fun with books by reading during the long summer holidays. It’s open to all children who are members of the libraries.

Children will register to take part in the Buzz and they will be given a Summer Reading Buzz membership card and asked to enter their name and Library card number. Every time a child returns a book they have read, their Buzz membership card will be stamped with a specially designed Bee stamp. When the card is completed (i.e. when they have read 10 books) the child can then hand the card into the library or post it into the special beehive box where it will be entered into a draw for some lovely prizes.

At the end of the Buzz each library will hold a ceremony to award a certificate and a medal to each child who has completed one or more membership cards. On completion of their first membership card each child will receive a Going Places with Books wristband.

Throughout the summer we’ll have surprise “bonus points” weeks where two stamps are given instead of one for each book read. There will also be storytelling and arts and crafts sessions on the theme of Bees, Buzzing and Reading to accompany the challenge.

So on your marks, get set, go – start reading!!!
