We are fast approaching the mid-term break and everyone has settled in to life and work in St. Molaga’s N.S.

We are currently undertaking the second year of our School Self Evaluation. Last year we focused on literacy and this year while continuing to develop our work on literacy we are focusing on Mathematics/Numeracy. We would like to thank all the parents/guardians who completed our questionnaire which will form part of our evaluation.

We
ask that you continue to support the work of your children by reading at home
every night, checking and signing homework and in numeracy helping your child to revise their tables and by getting involved in asking them maths problems or playing maths games.

Guidelines for  Homework:

Approximate times for written work:

3rd:30 mins     5th:40-50mins

4th:30-40mins 6th:50-60mins

Pupils are encouraged to read every night for homework. They may also be required to learn tables, poetry, etc as part of homework.

If pupils take a lot longer than the recommended times to complete work, please inform the class teacher.

Reading Tips for Parents is available from the school or on the school website.

Our Parent Teacher meetings will take place on the 20th and 21stth November and it is important that parents/guardians take time to meet their child’s teacher. You will receive notification of the date and time nearer the time.

Swimming will commence for all pupils in fourth classes on the Friday, 8th November.

The Junior and Senior Choirs are busy rehearsing and learning new songs and we would like to wish the senior choir the best of luck in the Choir competition in on the 25th. Go n’éirí an t’ádh libh.

We would like to remind parents of our Religion Programme Alive-O Home Links which are available on the school website. The links contain information on the content of the Alive-O programme and the prayers, songs and poems your children are reading and learning in school.

We would like to thank all the parents/guardians who have contributed €70 towards Visual Arts, Parents’ Association and the office/photocopying costs. We are happy for parents to pay in instalments as the funding pays for art/craft materials, photocopying and the general upkeep of resources in the school for use by the children. This year we are replacing the carpets in 8 classrooms main building.

We ask all parents/guardians to continue to support their Parents’ Association and if possible to join the committee. Our P.A. committee meet here in the school and are always looking for new members to help in their various activities. We need parents to be involved as the work the P.A. undertakes supports the work and education of your children.
