Think Before You Do.

The damp streets and the street lights flickering. They called me names and hurt me. Sadly I strolled down the street. They jumped out behind me. ” What do you think you’re doing? ” Shouted the gang. As they turned the corner I fell slowly to the ground. It felt like people were punching me inside.” I need  to stand up for myself” I mumbled. The next day I went outside and they came around the corner.  ” Are you too scared to come near us? ” They all shouted. “Stop!” I shouted. ” Leave me alone” I said. I started to tell my mam, dad.teacher what was happening to me. Then everything turned out alright.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    This is a message if you are getting bullied tell someone.

Mystery Skype Call with Mr. Bonavita’s Class in Delaware

We did a Mystery Skype call today with Mr. Bonavita in Oldcastle, Delaware, USA.

We had great fun with his 4th Grade Class. They guessed where our school is before we guessed their location.

They didn’t believe we had a castle beside our school, so we took the laptop outside and showed them Bremore Castle.

This is their video of that moment!

Their sate is the oldest US state, founded in 1787 which is around the time that Baron Hamilton introduced cotton factories to Balbriggan.

Planting Plum Trees in Our School Garden

On the 20th March, 6th classes came outside to plant some delicious plum trees. Last year, 6th class planted apple trees and they are coming along magnificently.

First, we put a little bit of compost in the holes that were already dug out previously. It was a bit hard to get the compost out without it spilling everywhere. Then we patted the compost down so it could be secure. After that, another tree was planted. Pictures were taken and all the boys were dirty from the compost. The description of the trees was on the card that came with them. It reads:

Fruit: Large, egg shaped, red on yellow base.

Flesh: Yellow, juicy, pleasant taste, stone easily removed.

Harvest; Late August to early September

Fertilisation by: Self fertile

Seachtain na Gaeilge

We did poems or stories about friendship. Bronagh won best story and Olivier won best poem.

There were two Irish concerts in the hall. There were lots of songs being sung by other classes. In the concert we sang Mr Probz’s “Waves” in Irish. At the end of the concert, we sang the Irish National Anthem, “Amhrán na bhFiann” . It was great fun!

We did an art competition for Seachtain na Gaeilge. We had to draw pictures of seanfhocails (old sayings) like, “Níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin (There’s no place like home)”, “Ní hé lá na báistí lá na páistí (A day that it rains is not a day for children)”, “Nuair a bhíonn an cat amuigh, bíonn na lucha ag rince (When the cat’s away, the mice will play)”, “Aithníonn ciaróg ciaróg eile (It takes one to know one)”. Carys and Calum won an Easter egg each.

We also did as many laps as we could around the astroturf and afterwards we got into a big circle and made a Chain of Hands. Ms DeFaoite played “Is Leatsa Í” on the intercom and we all sang.

Seachtain na Gaeilge Events and Winners

IMG_0390 (1)We

We have had a great Seachtain na Gaeilge in St Molaga’s! Over the last couple of weeks we have done many activities in class such as Irish dancing, listening to traditional Irish music and taking part in different activities though Irish such as quizzes. Some classes have been on a visit to the Gaelscoil and had an amazing day and other classes will be hosting visiting classes from the Gaelscoil next week and after Easter to participate in activities together through Irish.

The above photo shows the winners of our writing competition (Comórtas Scríbhneoireachta Sheachtain na Gaeilge). Their terrific poems and stories will be on display in the hall over the next few weeks. Well done to all children who participated and Comhghairdeas Mór to all our buaiteoirí!

St Patrick’s Day;]

I got my cub uniform on and stated walk to the meeting point of the parade at about 1.20pm.  I met my friends and leaders then we started walk down the street.  I saw my cousins  and aunties and my family as I walked down to the stage on St Georges square.   We sang the Bremore yell then to make a long  story short,  at the end of the parade I went down to the stalls to meet my cousins.  I went to my cousins house for dinner and thats pretty much my St Patricks day.

St Patricks Day

On Tuesday I was in the parade.  We were leading the parade it was kind of embarassing becuse I was a sixer and sixers haved to hold the flags.  But anyways after that we went back to the clubhouse to have some biscuits then we did the real thing we were behind the musicians.  it was really fun.  After the parade I went to the pub to get something to eat like potatos or chicken nuggets.  It was a  great day.

St Patrick’s Day !!!!!!!!!

On Tuesday afternoon  I got changed for St Patrick’s day.  I was wearing a lime top and a green trousers with a blue and orange jumper.  When I got to the parade we all had to wait because people kept  walking and the parade wouldn’t start. Finally the parade started and first the scouts came. The scouts were playing instruments.  I saw a small boy playing  a trumpet I was very shocked.    I saw the rugby team.  I saw my friend Eoin, he plays for the rugby team.  I saw most of my class.  I saw this girl’s  dancing group,  I thought they were alright because they did a dance and it was off timing  and some girls were doing the wrong dance.  I saw some of my friends that I don’t often see.  I thought St Patrick;s day was okay.  It wasn’t the best I have been to but if you weren’t there I recommend you to  ask a friend who went to the parade  and they will tell you how it went .

St. Patricks day

I went to the parade on Tuesday.   There were soccer teams, Glebe North and Balbriggan fc.   People were dressed up as leprechauns and there were ponies and old cars and trucks.  People were giving out free lollipops and people were getting an  Apache pizza  off people  and getting chips.  There were a bunch of people on motor bikes and a pitbull was barking at the ponies.
