Digital Art Week 2015
We have been taking part in Digital Art Week this week. You can join the fun here http://www.digitalartweek.com/2015/.
We are talking part in an art treasure hunt on Twitter. @LeoTheV(ole) gives us clues each day and we will have to solve a puzzle at the end of the week.

Our Longboats!
Look how tall our plants have grown!
You can see in the final picture that the seed on Rachel’s plant is still attached to her plant! We expect it to fall off soon. Some of our plants are so tall already that we will need to support them with sticks soon. You can read more about ‘Sow and Grow’ by Innocent Smoothies here https://sowandgrow.innocentdrinks.ie/

Dioramas
We created dioramas in Art this week. They are based on scenes from the novel Under The Hawthorn Tree, which we read and really enjoyed. We also watched the DVD based on the book.
The novel is set during the Great Famine in Ireland.
Starry Nights
Keep calm and fight like a Viking !
Our topic over the last few weeks in History has been the Vikings. We really enjoyed learning lots of interesting facts about who they were, where they came from, how they lived and what they are know for.
Vikings were seafarers, who spoke the Old Norse language. They raided and traded across wide areas of northern and central Europe, as well as European Russia, during the late 8th to late 11th centuries.
Here are our projects we completed today!

Our Seeds Have Germinated
Last week we planted cress seeds, courgette seeds and pumpkin Seeds.
The cress seeds germinated after about two days and yesterday and today the pumpkin and courgette seeds germinated.
We are growing the seeds as part of the Innocent Smoothie Sow and Grow promotion.

Lunch In The Sun !
Jungle Fever
Each animal woke up in the day, while the snakes were tangled in their own way. The lion is somehow kind, while a monkey is stuck in a vine.
The giraffe is painted red. Who is this pasty head!? The thing that done this all but they must be big and tall.
But something flew in the breeze. Oh it’s parrot in the trees! Kind, red, glowing parrot. But listen to what parrot said…. “April Fools!!”

BananaGrams!!
Hello Everybody,
This morning we played a game called BananaGrams. If you are wondering what BananaGrams is , its a game where you make words out of tiles. The First team to use up all their words are the winners and they shout BANANAS! .
We worked in groups and made words using vowel digraphs.
Our Opinion it is a fun game to play however when you run out of vowels it gets very tricky!!!
Fingal All Weather Pitch Opening
Our class was picked to go to the all weather pitch opening on Wednesday 15th April. We were picked because we were the best behaved on the yard. One class from each year was picked. We all went down to the astroturf at twelve o’clock.
We played soccer, Gaelic, SNAG Golf and a game called Goblins and Leprechauns. We all enjoyed playing golf and one of the coaches called Jake Tiger Woods! (We thought he should have called him Rory McIlroy instead!)
After we’d played the games, the pitch was officially opened. The ribbon was cut by the Mayor of Fingal. Speeches were made by the President of the GAA, Vice-President of the FAI and Minister James Reilly.

Well done to our rugby team who won the final of the schools rugby tournament, organised by Balbriggan Rugby Club.

Innocent Smoothie Sow and Grow
Our class is taking part in the Sow and Grow project. All our materials arrived before our Easter Holidays. We planted our cress seeds yesterday. We put them on a windowsill hopefully they will get lots of sunlight. Today we are going to fill in our grow diaries. Next week we will plant courgette seeds and then pumpkin seeds. We can’t wait to plant the pumpkin seeds. We also have tomato plants growing in our classroom.

Mystery Skype
Yesterday we did another mystery Skype call.
The class were a 4th grade class from E.T. Hamilton Elementary, in Voorhees New Jersey USA. Their teacher is Ms. Ferrell.
They guessed where we were before we found them!
