We are delighted again this week to have another Special Showcase in our class. This week Rachel B. won the award. This is a second award for Rachel! There were over 1,300 entries into the 100 Word Challenge this week. Well done Rachel, great work.
This is Rachel’s entry:
I ran and ran, birds swooping and howling above me. Suddenly I felt a violent thug on my shirt. All of a sudden I felt myself being lifted up into the air by my red hair. I was lifted above all the trees and the clouds until all I could see was dots.
Finally I was dropped onto a stump of a tree. I looked up, scared of what I might see. Seeing a giant bird, made me feel dizzy. I fell. The bird made me feel so small. I felt like one of the lego pieces my little brother used to play with.
All of a sudden the sky started spinning….
This is Grace’s entry for last week’s 100 word challenge. The prompt was to re-write a fairy story.
The story is called, ‘Three Mexican Bears, Coco Pops and A New Fur Coat.’
“Ooh, let’s go in this house!”, said Alejandra the bear. So they walked in. “Ooh look! Three bowls of coco pops” said Jose. “Bro let’s eat it.” said Pedro. So the Mexican bears went in and started eating it. “What the….why are there three bears eating my coco pops. Oh no, no no no no! Shoo! Get out! My coco pops NOT yours!” exclaimed a VERY angry Goldilocks. “Bro, I think we should get going…” whispered Pedro to Jose. “Yeah bro, let’s go.” So Jose and Pedro ran out leaving Alejandra. “Well, well well. Look what we have here..” Long story short, Goldilocks got a new fur coat…

Muffins
Last Thursday my two friends Sandra and Lauren and I made muffins with Ms. Hegarty. Nicole, Brenda and Ciara from sixth class helped us too. We made muffins in the staff room after big yard. We made the muffins because we had looked at the recipe.
First:
We cleaned the table and the counter. We got all the ingredients we needed to make the choc chip banana muffins. Before we got started we preheated the oven to 210 degrees Celsius.
Then:
We took a bowl and put in all our dry ingredients. We sieved the flour into the bowl and added sugar and chocolate chips. We mixed it all up.
Next:
We melted margarine in a microwave-safe jug and we added vanilla essence, three eggs and milk to the jug. We mashed bananas in a bowl and added them to the jug as well.
After that:
We added our wet ingredients to our dry ingredients and stirred. We greased the flat tray and put our mixture in. We put our cases into the muffin tray. We spooned our mixture into the cases. Ms. Hegarty put them in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes
At the end:
Ms Hegarty removed the muffins from the oven. We all took home 2 muffins . TINA BO$$
This week in Art we used various types of fabric and fibre to create masks of our choice. Some of us decided to make our masks scary, while others went for Ninja’s and brides!!
We had a busy week this week with our Mystery Skyping. We had three different calls! We only managed to guess where one of them were before they guessed where we were.
“Yeah bro, let’s go.” So Jose and Pedro ran out leaving Martina. “Well, well well. Look what we have here..” Long story short, Goldilocks got a new fur coat…
Goldilocks was an evil partier. She went from house to house planning parties in order to wreck the home. One day she was wandering through the woods and she spotted a small cottage. It looked like a good place for a party.
She couldn’t see any activity inside so she stepped closer. Once she was sure it was empty she bashed in the door. She set up a disco, drinks, some music, food and a phone. She called up all of her friends and they came over. When the party was in full swing, a bear busted the door open and stormed in.
That night the bear had a barbecue and Goldilocks never partied ever again.
The old castle bell struck midnight
Out jumped Cinderella, her face full of fright
She bounded downstairs, the Prince on her tail
Attempting a jump that turned into a fail
She wobbled she wibbled, fell flat on her face
Spilling red blood all over the place
She had one tooth left, it hanging by a thread
The Prince went white then went red
‘This isn’t my love!’ shouted the Prince in rage
‘Look her up’, he demanded
‘Into a cage!’
While Cinderella sat in her prison room
The Prince went off and found a groom
Soon the castle was filled with laughter
As for Cinderella her story never came close to happy ever after……..
