We had great fun today celebrating Tree Day 2017.
We went on a Tree Trail and examined an Oak tree in the school grounds. Then we all collected a variety of leaves and tried to identify them using the sheet that teacher gave us.
We also collected some berries, horse chestnuts and acorns.
It was hard to work out what some of the leaves were! Teacher had a book which helped us identify them.
We also planted an Alder sapling that we received from the Tree Council.
We planted conkers from a horse chestnut tree that we won’t see germinate until next spring!
Teacher brought in part of a tree stump and we were able to do rubbings and look at the age of the tree by counting its rings.
