On Wednesday of Active Week, the pupils of St Molaga’s took part in a display of gymnastics, dance, sports skills and other skills in the hall. In total we had three shows throughout the day featuring performances from gymnastics, tae-kwon do, kickboxing, freestyle dance, ballroom dancing, Irish dancing, hoola-hooping, baton twirling, rugby skills, Gaelic skills, hurling skills, keepie-uppies, jiu-jitzu and, wait for it… horse-riding! Unfortunately we weren’t able to have the actual horse in to visit on this occasion, but Naoise showed us a video clip of herself competing in a show-jumping competition and untacking the horse and talked us through all of the skills that she has learnt in the last five years. We were wowed by the performances of our amazing dancers and gymnasts not to mention the performances of our martial arts experts. We were also treated to some more unusual performances with the baton-twirling and hoola-hooping. We got a complete run-down on the different skills needed for tackling, throwing, catching, soloing, moving with the ball, protecting the ball, blocking etc. from our young experts in Gaelic, hurling, rugby and soccer. It’s really hard to believe the range of talent that the pupils of St Molaga’s have!
